The information contained within these pages will show the differences in PhotoImpact 8XL (Ulead's Package) and PhotoImpact 8.5 Pro (Nova's Package).
People always ask, "What's the difference in PIXL and PI Pro 8.5. The general consensus is there are no differences but that is a misconception. These pages will show you what's different. Although there are no differences in how the program works and how various tools are used, there are many differences in what's included in the package both as extras and part of the program itself. Visit both web sites for more information.
Both programs open with the usual splash screen. PIXL has the orange and white colors with a picture of the guy on the box holding a camera. Pro has a blue splash screen with the picture of the woman on the box. After the splash screen, Pro presents you with the following screen: You can see that the Pro version has a few more folders. AnyGif in PIXL has been renamed to GifAnimator in the Pro version. The Corbis Library is included in both versions but is not shown here as it is located in the ulead.dat file and is automatically installed in the Easy Palette. The Alien Skin Xenofex 2 is also auto installed in Pro.
At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much difference in the Easy Palette. The Material Library in the Pro version hows thumbnails of the various effects available in the Alien Skin filter. On the Object Library side, the Pro version shows the thumbnails used in the Tutorials and the Corbis Library.
